Copper Country 100 Women Who Care continues to grow its support for organizations across the Keweenaw Peninsula. The group recently held its third meeting of 2026 at the Lodge Luxury Suites in Hancock, with more than 50 women in attendance.
The organization was established in 2025 to bring together like-minded women in the region to actively support various causes making a difference in the Copper Country.
The recent meeting resulted in $8,400 collected and donated to Simple Kindness for Youth, a local child support organization that works within Copper Country Intermediate School District schools to provide items to students that can make school and life a little easier. The organization has been able to purchase shoes for students in need.
Lynette Borre, who presented to the group, emphasized the power of collective action.
“There is something especially powerful about 100 women coming together, each donating and creating an impact that will reach so many local children,” Borre said.
Since its establishment, 100 Women Who Care has raised more than $40,000 for organizations including Omega House, 31 Backpacks, UP Wildlife Rehabilitation, the Pewabic Street Community Garden and Unite Mental Health and Wellness.
