The Tigers dropped a 2-1 decision to the White Sox yesterday. Detroit took an early lead when Spencer Torkelson doubled home Kevin McGonigle in the first inning. Keider Montero gave up just two hits over six shutout innings, but Chicago scored twice off Drew Anderson in the seventh to take the lead. Detroit got just two more hits over the final eight innings.
After struggling to a 6-19 record in May, the Tigers will try to right the ship when they visit the Rays tonight. Ty Madden will start against Griffin Jax. Coverage will begin at 6:15 on 99.3 The Lift.
Kerry Carpenter is back with the Tigers, after spending some time on the injured list. Gage Workman was returned to Toledo to make room. More help may be on the way. Justin Verlander is scheduled to make a rehab start for the Mud Hens tomorrow. Gleyber Torres had a hit in a rehab appearance in yesterday’s game for Toledo.
The Brewers blanked the Astros 2-0 yesterday. Jacob Misiorowski dominated again, giving up just three hits over seven innings, and striking out eight. Jake Bauers’ two-run homer in the fourth inning provided all the scoring.
The Brewers welcome the Giants tonight. Shane Drohan will pitch against Landen Roupp.
Milwaukee brought reliever Rob Zastryzny off the injured list yesterday, and sent Carlos Rodriguez down to Nashville.
