MITRALE supports education with four scholarship awards.
The Michigan Trails and Recreation Alliance of Land and the Environment proudly announces plans to award four scholarship awards to seniors graduating from Ontonagon Area High School and Ewen Trout Creek High School.
From Ontonagon High School, Jack Nelson and Kylee Utiola will each earn $250 scholarships. At Ewen Trout Creek School, MITRALE awards $250 scholarships to Emma Besonen and Kalli Borseth.
The scholarships recognize students who demonstrate commitment to outdoor recreation and environmental stewardship. These awards support the organization’s mission to promote responsible trail use and conservation in the region.
MITRALE works throughout the year to maintain motorized and non-motorized trails in the western Upper Peninsula. The group’s trail system covers nearly 600 miles for ATVs, side-by-sides, equestrian, hiking and biking.
The organization’s extensive network provides recreational opportunities for residents and visitors while promoting sustainable outdoor activities. Trail maintenance involves volunteers and partnerships with local communities to ensure safe, accessible routes for various recreational activities.
The scholarship program represents MITRALE’s investment in the next generation of outdoor enthusiasts and environmental advocates. Recipients are selected based on their academic achievement and demonstrated interest in outdoor recreation or environmental conservation.
