Copper Shores and the Keweenaw Community Foundation partnered to donate $150,000 to support the RxKids program in the Copper Country.
Michigan announced a major expansion of the RxKids program at the start of the year, bringing the children’s prescription medication assistance to all 83 counties statewide. The program was originally started by Michigan State University and GiveDirectly in Flint.
The donation will help expand RxKids’ impact in Baraga, Houghton, Keweenaw and Ontonagon counties.
“The foundation’s community impact fund will support the donation, which is meant to support and respond to community needs quickly,” said Robin Menegazzo, KCF executive director.
The program has already shown significant impact in Baraga County, where more than 100 families have registered and received over $189,000 in cash assistance for purchasing medication.
