Milwaukee purchased the contract of outfielder Luis Matos from the Giants yesterday. Matos has batted just .231 over three major league seasons, but is still just 24 years old. He’ll provide a right-handed bat with Andrew Vaughn and Jackson Chourio sidelined for the next few weeks.
The Brewers have reportedly signed 21-year-old shortstop Cooper Pratt to a long-term contract. Pratt is considered one of Milwaukee’s top prospects, although he hit just .238 at Double-A last season. The deal is said to be worth nearly $51 million over eight seasons. It’s similar to the contract the team signed several years ago with Jackson Chourio.
