Daniss Jenkins scored 30 points, as the Pistons slipped past the Lakers 113-110 last night. Jenkins’ jump shot with 24 seconds remaining gave Detroit a one-point lead, and he sank two free throws in the closing seconds to seal the win. Jalen Duren added 20 points and 11 rebounds.
The Pistons welcome the Hawks tomorrow. Coverage will begin at 6:35 on 99.3 The Lift.
The Bucks lost to the Clippers 129-96 last night. They trailed by 24 at halftime. Gary Trent, Junior, scored 20 points.
The Bucks play at Portland tomorrow night.
Milwaukee has waived Cam Thomas, just 18 games after signing him in February. The Bucks are promoting Pete Nance, who has been signed to a multiyear standard contract after previously playing on a two-way deal.
MLB
The Tigers fell to the Rockies 6-5 in an exhibition last night. Gleyber Torres had two hits and drove in three runs. Jack Flaherty pitched into the fifth, and gave up four runs on seven hits.
The Tigers play a final exhibition contest against Colorado in Arizona this afternoon, before opening the regular season Thursday at San Diego. Justin Verlander will start today’s game.
Detroit will open the season without reliever Beau Brieske. He struggled with several injuries this spring, and has now been transferred to the 60-day injured list with an adductor strain. To fill in, the Tigers signed veteran reliever Connor Seabold. He went through spring training with the Blue Jays, but requested his release after he didn’t make their roster.
The Brewers blasted the Reds 9-1 in an exhibition last night. Brice Turang, William Conteras and Andrew Vaughan homered.
The Brewers host the Reds for a final exhibition contest today, before Thursday’s home opener against the White Sox. Brandon Sproat will start today’s contest.
