Copper Country ISD CTE students earned top honors at the regional HOSA competition, supporting future healthcare professionals in gaining skills and knowledge before entering the workforce.
In February, the CCISD CTE’s health sciences program, which includes close to 100 students from surrounding school districts in the Keweenaw Peninsula, participated in the HOSA – Future Health Professionals regional competition in Marquette.
The competition plays an important role in technical education by getting students outside of the classroom and networking with their peers from around the region.
Baraga County CTE health careers instructor Brooke Osterman says it’s truly inspiring to see students step outside of their comfort zones to demonstrate technical skills and knowledge they’ve worked hard to master over the course of the semester.
First place winners at the regional competition included students from Lanse schools, Chassell Area schools, the Houghton-Portage Township School District, Lake Linden-Hubbell Schools and CLK schools.
