The Keweenaw Community Foundation plans to address challenges in the western Upper Peninsula through educational sessions following community meetings held last fall.
CEO Robin Meneguzzo said the foundation identified three topics they could address in upcoming programs based on feedback from those meetings.
Next Wednesday, the foundation plans to meet with groups and individuals in Ontonagon to discuss grant writing. Later in the month, the foundation will host sessions on promoting missions and storytelling techniques.
“That helped guide that conversation. And so that’s one of the reasons we’re now going back to these communities to say, we heard you, here’s what we want to offer,” Meneguzzo said. “And it provides an opportunity for us to continue that relationship.”
Meneguzzo said these sessions and future opportunities will provide a starting point for organizations to move forward on initiatives.
In line with the foundation’s upcoming sessions, Keweenaw Community Foundation recently opened a new survey that seeks to better understand where the western Upper Peninsula’s future is headed. Meneguzzo said the foundation’s recently released “Build Our Future” survey relates to these sessions in how the foundation plans to continually follow up with community partners and residents with programs and information to better inform projects and initiatives.
The survey aims to help improve how the region functions and uses assets available in the Copper Country.
Those interested in attending the community learning session in Ontonagon on March 11 can find details about that event here. On March 18th the Foundation will host Storytelling for you Community Organization in Baraga. The final community learning session with KCF will take place at the foundation’s office inside the Hancock Community Hub. That session will help organizations and groups determine the best ways to gather feedback from the community on events, projects, programs, or initiatives an organization is working toward. The Community Learning Sessions throughout March are free to attend. Learn more here.
