- The Houghton girls team placed second, behind Marquette. Aya Keteri won the 500 freestyle, a sixth of a second faster than Sault Ste Marie’s Skyla Hallquist. The Gremlins’ 200 and 400 freestyle relay teams each took second place.
- The Houghton boys team placed fourth, behind Marquette, Kingsford and Sault Ste. Marie.

Kydan Dean of the L’Anse High School bowling team finished seventh in singles play at the regional tournament Saturday. That qualifies him to compete in the upcoming state tournament.
College Basketball
Dylan Kuehl became the fourth player in Northern Michigan University history to reach the 2,000 career point mark, as the 22nd-ranked Wildcats men’s team dispatched Ferris State Saturday, 75-53. Kuehl netted a game-high 20-points.
The 20th-ranked NMU women’s team dropped an 80-68 decision to the 16th-ranked Bulldogs. Jacy Wiesbrod scored 16 for Northern.
Both Michigan Tech teams will play at Ferris tomorrow.
College Hockey
The Lake Superior State hockey team completed a season sweep over Northern Michigan with a 5-2 victory Saturday night in Marquette. Caiden Gault and Peter Cisar scored for the Wildcats.
The Michigan Tech hockey team had the weekend off.
GLHL
The Portage Lake Pioneers routed the M and M Shamrocks 8-2 Saturday night.
The Calumet Wolverines v the Eagle River Falcons Saturday – no report.
NHL
The Red Wings return from the Olympic break Thursday when they visit the Senators. Coverage will begin at 6:45 on 99.3 The Lift.
NBA
The Pistons overpowered the Bulls 126-110 Saturday night. Jalen Duren had 26 points and 13 rebounds.
The Pistons host the Spurs tomorrow. Coverage will begin at 6:35 on 99.3 The Lift.
The Bucks will host the Raptors this afternoon.
MLB
The Tigers’ Grapefruit League campaign got off to a rough start Saturday with a 20-3 loss to the Yankees. The Tigers collected just five hits, including a home run by outfield hopeful Corey Julks. Keider Montero pitched the first two innings, and gave up three runs on three hits.
The Tigers face the Orioles this afternoon.
Detroit shortstop Trey Sweeney has been sidelined because of a shoulder strain. He’s considered day-to-day.
The Brewers opened their Cactus League schedule Saturday with a 9-6 loss to a split Guardians squad. Brandon Lockridge homered.
The Brewers split their squad for games against the White Sox and Royals today.
Outdoor
Baraga County Trails in Motion will host a free Share the Trail event today. At Meadowbrook Park in L’Anse between 1:00 and 4:00, Downwind Sports will provide equipment demos, and opportunities to try cross country skiing and snowshoeing. At 2:00, a relaxed ski and snowshoe outing will begin at the Pinery Lakes Trail. Refreshments will be available at both locations.
