Uppco encourages residents and businesses to improve their home or business’ energy efficiency. On Monday a group of Uppco representatives gave out energy efficiency kits to businesses in Munising. And yesterday the company set up a site at Keweenaw Chevrolet in Houghton. Blitz program coordinator Tyler Robinson says the kits provided people with an aerator, surge protector power strip and energy efficient night lights. He adds some businesses may consider following up with Uppco for an inspection.
So we offer an energy insight assessment for residential and business customers, but today we’re offering some energy insight assessments for businesses. This can include looking at some of your water measures, some of your lights, seeing if there’s any opportunities for rebates, if you’re doing any projects for your business that has a residual effect of energy savings. That’s usually going to get funneled to me one way or another, and we’re looking forward to giving away some of the rebate opportunities for these customers. – Tyler Robinson, blitz program coordinator, UPPCO
On Wednesday the Uppco small business blitz program will move to Ishpeming. Robinson adds the program invites business owners and managers to the After-hours program with the West End Economic Hub at the Mather Inn. The small business blitz will begin at 5pm. Residents interested in learning more about ways to save energy in their home can find informational materials provided by Uppco online.
