The good news work will wrap up soon.
The bad news, MDOT will need to complete a second phase to restore M-26 in Houghton to how it was before rain significantly damaged the roadway.
The first phase of work will wrap up on Friday. Crews will pick back up in mid-August to complete relining and partially replace a damaged culvert, and finish concrete paving and curb work. The department will expect crews finish the repair project by mid-October.
Drivers should continue to use caution when traveling south on M-26, as lane closures expect to remain in place and traffic shifts.
