The Tigers rapped out 19 hits, and throttled the Diamondbacks 12-2 last night. The game started ominously, as Casey Mize gave up two runs before being pulled in the second inning. Brant Hurter replaced him, and he and three other relievers held Arizona to just two hits over the duration. Dillon Dingler’s two-out single in the fourth tied the game, and Detroit took command with six runs in the fifth and three in the sixth. Gleyber Torres, Riley Greene and Zach McKinstry homered. Greene added a pair of doubles.
The Tigers wrap up that home set against the Diamondbacks this afternoon. Newly-acquired Chris Paddack will pitch against Ryne Nelson. Coverage will begin at 12:45 on 99.3 The Lift.
Detroit returned outfielder Ryan Kreidler and Geoff Hartlieb to Toledo yesterday.
Alex Cobb gave up a run on two hits over two innings in a rehab start for the West Michigan Whitecaps last evening. Cobb has been out all summer with a hip injury, but team officials hope he’ll be ready to join the Tigers sometime next month.
Alex Lange pitched an inning of scoreless relief in his second rehab start with the Mud Hens last night. He’s working his way back from pre-season lat surgery.
Quinn Priester won his 10th game of the season, as the Brewers pounded the Cubs 9-3 last night. Andrew Vaughn had three hits, including a grand slam, drove in six runs and scored twice.
The Brewers entertain the Cubs again this afternoon. Freddy Peralta will pitch against Shota Imanaga.
Jackson Chourio left last night’s game after legging out a triple in the fifth inning. Team officials said he felt a spasm in a hamstring. They’re hoping it was just a muscle cramp.
The Brewers sent reliever Craig Yoho down to Nashville yesterday, and recalled reliever Easton McGee.
