Keweenaw County Sheriff recovers one body of the two missing canoe paddlers reported capsized on Saturday.
On Saturday, the Keweenaw County sheriff initiated a search and rescue operation after three individuals were reported to have capsized while canoeing in Copper Harbor. One individual escaped the vessel and was able to reach shore to call emergency responders at 3:50 a.m. The Keweenaw County sheriff called on additional agencies to begin the search efforts.
Saturday evening the Keweenaw County Sheriff reported one individual was recovered.
The search continues for the second individual.
The Keweenaw Search and Rescue team, Copper Harbor Fire, United States Coast Guard helicopter support, Michigan DNR, and Michigan State Police Dive team are assisting the Keweenaw County sheriff in search efforts.
