MLB
The Tigers fell 8-1 to the White Sox last evening. On what turned into a bullpen night, the first three Detroit pitchers gave up just one run through five innings. Chicago teed off on the remainder – three runs off Tyler Holton, two off Dylan Smith, and two off Chase Lee. Dillon Dingler doubled home Wenceel Pérez with the Tigers’ only run in the seventh.
Detroit visits the White Sox again tonight. Sawyer Gipson-Long will return from the injured list to start for the Tigers against Jared Shuster. Coverage will begin at 7:15 on 99.3 The Lift.
Tonight will be Gipson-Long’s first major league appearance since September 28, 2023. Since then, he’s undergone major shoulder and hip surgery.
The Brewers’ eight-game winning streak ended with a 4-2 loss to the Reds last night. Freddy Peralta gave up three runs over six innings, and took the loss. Sal Frelick homered for the Crew.
The Brewers wrap up that series at Cincinnati this afternoon. DL Hall will pitch against Andrew Abbott.
If it weren’t for bad luck, he’d have no luck at all. Milwaukee starter Brandon Woodruff has missed more than a year while working his way back from major shoulder surgery. A couple of weeks ago, in what was supposed to be his final minor league rehab start, he experienced ankle pain, so his stay on the injured list was extended. Last night, in what was supposed to be his final rehab start for the Nashville Sounds, Woodruff had to leave the game in the second inning, after he was struck on the elbow by a batted ball. X-rays showed no structural damage, but he’ll be examined further today.
NHL
