The Nature Conservancy plans to update the community on the progress of the Keweenaw Heartlands project tonight. The meeting at the Allouez Community Center will include representatives from The Nature Conservancy and Michigan DNR. In 2022 the TNC acquired the 32,000 acre property from the Rohatyn Group. The property is home to vast forests, rivers, streams, and geographic and cultural sites. So far, with help from volunteers, TNC has contributed over 1200 volunteer hours toward preserving the space for public land use for future generations. The update meeting tonight will start at 6:30 pm inside the Allouez community center on Bumbletown Road.
