A 19-year-old man has been charged with criminal sexual conduct following an investigation by the Houghton Police Department.
Dakota Donald Woodward faces one count of criminal sexual conduct in the fourth degree in Houghton County’s 97th District Court. The charge involves a person between 13 and 16 years old.
Woodward appeared via Zoom at a probable cause hearing Friday. His attorney, Grant Carlson, requested the court reschedule the hearing to allow time to meet with his client. Judge Nicholas Daavettila granted the request and set a new probable cause hearing for October 16.
Woodward agreed to waive the 21-day rule, permitting the court to set the new hearing date.
An investigation was opened by the Houghton Police Department after a criminal complaint was filed with the Houghton County Sheriff’s Office on August 30. Woodward was arraigned on September 24 and released on a $5,000 bond posted on September 30.
