As families across the nation take time to relax this Labor Day weekend, Ontonagon celebrates the workers who built America and shaped its communities.
Once a bustling hub of mining and forestry production, the quiet village transforms during the Ontonagon Labor Day Festival, filling with music, families, classic cars, and activities.
The festival begins Saturday with a walk-through exhibit at the Ontonagon Theater of Performing Arts and kids’ scrambles. Sunday brings early risers to the Ed Hansen Memorial Run, followed by afternoon festivities—a parade at noon and a kids’ parade at 1 p.m.
The celebration concludes Monday with the Ontonagon Bridge Walk at 11 a.m.
Labor Day recognizes the contributions of American workers over 250 years of national development. For Ontonagon, the weekend is a chance to honor that legacy while bringing the community together.
