The Keweenaw National Historical Park will host “Keweenaw Histories: Expand Our Understanding of the Industrial Landscape Through Public History” next week to highlight research from Keweenaw Histories.
The program’s research comes from the digital history initiative supported by the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and Dr. Daniel Wallace, who will reflect on his work with the American Conservation Experience-Mellon Humanities Fellowship and the development of Keweenaw Histories.
Wallace said Michigan’s Copper Country stories extend beyond mines into everyday spaces.
“By exploring these together we deepen our understanding of how industry and community shaped each other,” Wallace said.
The program begins at 1 p.m. Aug. 22. The event includes a presentation from Dr. Wallace followed by a short break and panel discussion with University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire students Jules Schwar, Owen Anderson, Sy Neville and Brandon Garanyi.
