Michigan Technological University researchers are positioned to help shape the future of artificial intelligence in science.
Michigan Tech shared Monday that researchers from the campus have three proposals being considered by the Department of Energy for the Genesis Mission, which aims to transform science and energy with artificial intelligence to address national science and technology challenges.
The Department of Energy selected one Michigan Tech-led proposal and two others involving university researchers. The department also chose the university’s Department of Physics to lead negotiations related to a Genesis Mission challenge on predicting U.S. water for energy.
Vice President of Research Andrew Barnard said the federal program will see Michigan Tech research help lead projects that reflect the institution’s R-1 research status.
