Learning to drive takes hours of practice. And nothing really prepares you for what to do in an emergency than advice from first responders. In August, the Michigan State Police Teen Defensive Driving Program will bring together young drivers to learn from state troopers.
The defensive driving program helps young drivers learn the rules of the road and ways to avoid an accident with hands-on learning opportunities paired with classroom instruction. This year’s summer program will set up in the parking lot of Gladstone Area High School and at the Brimley Development Center for two sessions.
Each location offers the learning opportunity to students that have at least completed segment 1 of driver’s education. Those interested in learning more about the free teen defensive driving program with Michigan State Police on August 15th and 16th can find more details below.

The Teen Defensive Driving program is offered at no cost to participants through a grant administered by the Michigan Office of Highway Safety Planning. The program has received very positive feedback from both students and their parents. Classes are offered from 8 a.m. to noon or 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
