A major road closure in Portage Township is scheduled to begin today.
Superior Road will be shut down for about two weeks from Onkalo’s Corner to Main Street in Dodgeville. Bacco Construction will be replacing some culverts as part of a larger project being undertaken by the Houghton County Road Commission.
Bacco is working with local residents to maintain access to their homes. Other motorists can use Paradise Road between Hurontown and the Chassell-Painesdale Road as a detour. Onkalo’s Corner will remain open, so the routes from there to Painesdale and South Range will also be accessible.
Once the culverts are replaced, the road will be reopened, but traffic will still be restricted at times while it’s being repaved. The whole project is expected to be completed by July 2nd.
