A semi-truck delivery caused a traffic jam in Hancock yesterday.
On Tuesday around 2:30 p.m., a semi-truck delivery was attempting to back into the Vollwerth’s receiving dock when the back of the trailer snagged low-hanging electric wires. The wires, pulled by the trailer as it backed up, pulled down a nearby utility pole that fell and struck a parked vehicle.
Hancock Police officers report the vehicle was the only damage accounted for at the scene. No injuries were reported.
UPPCO technicians were called to the scene to manage a live wire and repair the electrical service. Hancock Fire Chief Bill Lepisto remarked that as the pole fell, the electricity was shorted, tripping a breaker, leaving the line de-energized.
Law enforcement managed traffic in the area until the scene was cleared after 3 p.m.
