While raising your own kids, you’ll start to help out your parents more than before. Taking on the caregiver role within a family takes dedication, understanding and the ability to work at someone else’s pace.
In June, the Upper Peninsula Commission for Area Progress hosts a new set of Dementia Caregiving Workshop opportunities designed to support families navigating these challenges.
The Dementia Caregiving Workshop series has previously brought together personal and professional caregivers to learn about strategies and techniques to better engage family members with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease.
The workshop includes information on local resources available to residents, different activities to engage movement and thought, as well as strategies for caring for caregivers themselves. This comprehensive approach recognizes that supporting the caregiver is essential for providing quality care.
The program will meet once a week on Wednesdays starting June 10. The Dementia Caregiving Workshop is a three-week program delivered virtually, making it accessible to families across the Upper Peninsula.
UPCAP will close registration for the series on June 1. Participants must have a device with an internet connection or email address to attend the virtual workshops.
