The Parents Advisory Committees in the Upper Peninsula will seek new parents to join teams representing schools across the region.
The Parent Advisory Committee works with families across the Upper Peninsula to connect them with support and caregivers, share information about available resources for parents and students, and ensure the Upper Peninsula has a voice in statewide discussions and initiatives.
The Parents Advisory Committees meets once monthly, with meetings typically lasting about one hour. Intermediate school district across the region maintain PAC groups. Within the CCISD there are 15 school districts. On the CCISD Parent Advisory Committee there are five current vacancies; Arvon Township School District, Chassell Township School District, Elm River Township School, Grant Township Schools, Stanton Township Public School.
The initiative addresses the growing need for mental health support in rural areas, where families often face unique challenges in accessing services and resources. Each committee throughout the Upper Peninsula works in partnership with the Association for Children’s Mental Health in Michigan and UP Kids to provide comprehensive support for families.
