The Rozsa Center will soon wrap up celebrations commemorating the theater’s 25-year anniversary.
Set to take the stage this weekend, the Keweenaw Symphony Orchestra, Choirs of Michigan Tech and musicians from the Upper Peninsula and upper Midwest will perform Gustav Mahler’s Resurrection Symphony. The concert celebrates the Rozsa Center’s 25 years on campus providing world-class entertainment to the Keweenaw Peninsula.
The performance on Saturday will include more than 175 musicians, led by conductor Joel Neves.
“When you experience Mahler’s Resurrection Symphony it is an emotional thing,” Neves said. “No other symphony takes you on such a journey like this one.”
Executive Director Kiersten Birondo said this year has been a celebration and reminder of how important the Rozsa Center has been for the campus and wider community. Over its 25-year history, the Rozsa Center has played host to many nonprofit annual galas, numerous educational presentations, welcomed many laughs and brought the community together.
The concert rendition of Mahler’s Symphony is the first time the music will fill the center’s hall, marking a special occasion as it debuts in the Upper Peninsula on the Rozsa stage.
