High School
The Lake Linden-Hubbell football season ended with a 32-12 loss to North Dickinson in an Eight-Player Division Two regional title game Saturday. The Lakes trailed just 16-14 heading into the fourth quarter, but the Nordics scored two late touchdowns to put the game away. Brady Axford completed 8 of 17 passes for 86 yards, a touchdown to Tyler Axford, and two interceptions. Josh Daavettila completed the only pass he attempted, which turned into a 79-yard touchdown catch-and-run by Brady Axford. Daavettila rushed for 124 yards on 18 attempts. The Nordics will face Onekema in the semifinals Saturday at Marquette.

- In Division Four, Escanaba fell to Big Rapids 48-18 on Saturday.
- In Division Five, Kingsford’s season ended with a 41-6 loss to Ogemaw Heights on Saturday.
- In Division Seven, Menominee steamrolled McBain 49-6 on Saturday. The Maroons will host Shelby High School from the western Lower Peninsula in the regionals next weekend.
- In Division Eight, Bark River-Harris defeated Iron Mountain 41-20 on Friday to claim a district title. The Broncos will play at Glen Lake in the regionals on Friday evening.
- In eight-player Division One, Norway eliminated Pickford 58-12 Friday night to win a regional title. The Knights will face Montabella High School in a semifinal Saturday at Thirlby Field in Traverse City.
College Hockey
The Michigan Tech hockey team completed a weekend sweep over rival Northern Michigan with a 4-2 victory Saturday night in Marquette. After spotting the Wildcats an early goal, Lauri Raiman tied the match with his first goal of the season, in his first game of the season. Carson Latimer gave the Huskies the lead early in the second period, Teydon Trembecky scored the eventual game-winner late in the second, and Stiven Sardarian sealed the victory with a late empty-netter. Owen Bartoszkiewicz made 23 saves for the Huskies. Oliver Auyeung-Ashton made 27 saves for the Wildcats.
College Soccer
The MTU women’s soccer team ended its regular season with a 2-0 loss to Purdue Northwest Saturday. The Huskies are seeded seventh in the GLIAC tournament, and will play at Parkside in a quarterfinal game Tuesday.
The NMU women’s soccer team is seeded fifth, and will open at Ferris State Tuesday.
The NMU men’s soccer team hosts Purdue Northwest in a GLIAC tournament quarterfinal match today.
College Volleyball
The MTU volleyball team dropped a 3-1 (26-24, 22-25, 20-25, 17-25) match to Ferris State on Saturday. Rachel Zurek paced the Huskies with 20 kills. Madelynn Kreider recorded 43 assists and 15 digs. Julia Fledderjohn led the Huskies with 21 digs.
Northern’s volleyball squad dispatched Davenport 3-1 (24-26, 25-18, 25-23, 25-21) Saturday. McKenzie Gruner led a balanced Wildcats attack with 15 kills. Allie Barlow racked up 53 assists. Liesl Haugen notched 38 digs, tying her own record for second-best performance in team history.
College Football
The Tech football team’s comeback fell short in an 18-15 loss at 23rd-ranked Grand Valley State Saturday. Alex Bueno and Jake Rueff each ran for touchdowns for the Huskies.
Northern’s football team pulled out a 47-45 victory over Davenport Saturday, in a four-overtime thriller that matched the record for the longest game in Wildcats history. The game was tied 28-28 at the end of regulation. Each team scored a touchdown with an extra point kick in the first overtime, and a touchdown with a two-point conversion in the second. In the third, each team got one chance to make a two-point play from the three-yard line. Both teams were successful. Davenport fumbled the ball in the endzone on their attempt to open the fourth overtime, and Noah Dobert punched in the game-winner for Northern. Dobert finished with 243 rushing yards, two touchdowns in regulation and one in each of the first two overtimes.
College Basketball
The NMU women’s basketball team stunned 5th-ranked Gannon 60-58 Saturday, as the Wildcats swept their opponents at the CCA Tip-Off Classic in Edinboro, Pennsylvania. Jacy Weisbrod scored 16 for NMU.

The Red Wings welcome the Blackhawks today. Because of NFL football, coverage will begin at 12:45 on KBear 102.3.

The Pistons visit the 76ers tonight.
The Bucks welcome the Rockets this afternoon.
NFL
The Lions visit the Commanders for a 4:25 game today, with coverage on 99.3 The Lift. We’ll also broadcast this morning’s Falcons-Colts game from Berlin, and this evening’s tilt between the Steelers and Chargers.
