Voters enter ballot boxes today. Today’s election will have only local ballot measures appear. Copper City will vote on a fire millage renewal of 0.5 mills that will renew services provided by the Ahmeek Fire Department. If passed, the millage will raise 1074 dollars. City of Houghton voters consider four charter amendments and will also consider a non-homestead millage renewal for the Houghton-Portage Township School District. One charter amendment will shorten the time appointments are made, require the council to create a conflict-of-interest ordinance, updates language on gender, and updates language for special elections. Hancock Public Schools will ask voters to consider a 13 million dollar referendum bond. The district would use the funds, supported by an extension on the existing bond millage rate, to complete critical infrastructure improvements.
In Ontonagon County voters will consider an operating millage renewal for the Ewen Trout Creek school district. The millage rate will authorize the district to collect 19.0592 mills to support operations within the district. The measure will extend the millage rate over another 10 years.
Polls will open at 7am today and close at 8 pm. Those interested in learning more about the November consolidated election can find more informatio\
