UPPCO provides an update on the cause of a widespread power outage on Monday. In the afternoon around 1:30 pm several thousand UPPCO customers were affected by a power outage. UPPCO reported that the outage was related to transmission infrastructure that delivers power to the company system. The utility provider immediately began working to restore power. With electricity restored to several areas quickly and much of the region was restored by 5 pm. The outage impacted areas in the Keweenaw Peninsula Baraga County, and Marquette County. The extent of the outage impacted more than 20,000 utility addresses. Find a full statement below.

REGIONAL OUTAGE AFFECTING UPPCO CUSTOMERS
Marquette – Upper Peninsula Power Company (UPPCO) is aware of multiple outages across the
Western Upper Peninsula including parts of UPPCO’s service territory. These outages are related
to the transmission infrastructure that delivers electric power to UPPCO’s system. At this time,
power is actively being restored. We’re still experiencing high call volumes and site traffic, which
may result in longer call-waiting times and may impact the ability for customers to access our
