On Monday, the Keweenaw Economic Development Alliance, Keweenaw Young Professionals, Copper Shores, and the chamber of Commerce announced the groups will cancel the 2025 Holiday Hoopla.
The annual fundraiser each year has helped support construction and technical education, while offering an evening of festivity during the holiday season. The Holiday Hoopla fundraiser partners add the CCISD CTE scholarship fund remains fully funded and will provide scholarships to graduating seniors at the end of the school year.
The group says it will need to cancel this year’s event due to a number of ongoing projects organizations working on, as well as an ongoing leadership transition at the Keweenaw Economic Development Alliance. KEDA and its partners wanted to ensure an in-person event and the silent auction would bring the community together and maintain the event’s impact. KEDA Executive Director Jeff Ratcliffe says he’s grateful for the community’s enthusiasm over the years, and support for CTE programs. The Holiday Hoopla partners look forward to returning in the future.

Keweenaw Holiday Hoopla Canceled for 2025
HOUGHTON, Mich. – October 20, 2025 – The Keweenaw Chamber of Commerce, Keweenaw Young Professionals (KYP), Keweenaw Economic Development Alliance (KEDA), and Copper Shores Community Health Foundation (CSCHF) have announced the cancellation of this year’s Keweenaw Holiday Hoopla.
The annual Holiday Hoopla is a beloved community celebration that brings together local professionals and residents for an evening of networking, good cheer, and support for local scholarships benefiting students entering skilled trades. While the event will take a pause this year, the CTE Skilled Trades Scholarship Program remains fully funded and active thanks to the continued support of Copper Shores Community Health Foundation. Scholarships for graduating seniors pursuing industrial, construction, or other skilled service trade training will still be available this year.
With several ongoing projects and a temporary staffing transition, KEDA and its partners determined it would be best to pause the Holiday Hoopla this year. As the group that coordinates the event’s silent auction, KEDA wanted to ensure the event maintains the quality and impact the community has come to expect. Rather than scale back, the partners agreed to take a short pause and look forward to bringing the event back at full strength in the future.
“We’re grateful for the community’s ongoing enthusiasm for the Holiday Hoopla and the generosity that has fueled the scholarship program over the years,” said Jeff Ratcliffe, Executive Director of KEDA. “We look forward to celebrating together again soon.”
