The Houghton County Fair opened with near-perfect weather conditions yesterday.
Today might not be as nice, with forecasters predicting a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, most likely between 2:00 and 7:00.
Activities resume with the swine show this morning at 10:00. The beef show begins at 1:00, and will be followed by the dairy cattle show. Sheep and goats will take center stage at 4:00.
The Senior Citizens Day program starts at noon. Those aged 55 and over can get a free lunch, while supplies last, and be eligible for door prizes. The major exhibitor awards will be announced during the noon hour, and Lightning Ridge will provide live music on the indoor stage.
The midway reopens at 1:00. The Cowboy Challenge begins at 4:30 at the Horse Arena. The TNT Demolition Derby begins this evening at 7:30 at the Main Event Arena.
