During a recent appearance on Bill Maher’s Club Random podcast, Billy Joel opened up about his health issues for the first time since he was diagnosed with a brain disorder. “I feel fine,” the 76-year-old singer told the host, while adding, “My balance sucks. It’s like being on a boat.” Joel was forced to cancel all 17 of his upcoming stadium tour dates in North America and the U.K., due to being diagnosed with normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH), an accumulation of fluid in the brain that causes cognitive and physical issues. Joel expressed optimism about his condition during the interview, sharing that while his condition isn’t “fixed,” it is “being worked on.” “I feel good,” Joel said. “They keep referring to what I have as a brain disorder, so it sounds a lot worse than what I’m feeling.” (Rolling Stone)
