Hancock Public Schools hires Mollie Trewartha as the new High school and middle school principal.
Effective July 21st, Trewartha will take on the high school and middle school leadership role. She comes to Hancock Public Schools with 24 years of professional education experience, previously serving as a mathematics teacher and MTSS coordinator at Houghton Portage Township Schools.
Trewartha earned a master’s and specialist degree in educational administration from Northern Michigan University and is currently in pursuit of a doctorate in educational leadership from Central Michigan University.
She says she’s excited to partner with students, staff, and families to continue a tradition of bulldog pride and plans to create an environment where students thrive, feel seen, supported, and challenged. HPS Superintendent Chris Salani adds that the district is excited to add Trewartha to their team, who brings with her a record as an exceptional educator and a professional commitment to growth and student success.

Hancock Public Schools Appoints Mollie Trewartha as New Middle/High School Principal
[Hancock, Michigan] — July 18, 2025 — Hancock Public Schools (HPS) proudly announces the
appointment of Mollie Trewartha as the new principal of Hancock Middle and High Schools,
effective July 21, 2025.
With over 24 years of experience in education, Trewartha is known for her student-centered
leadership and collaborative spirit. She previously served as a mathematics teacher and MTSS
Coordinator in the Houghton-Portage Township School District.
“I’m excited to partner with students, staff, and families to continue the tradition of Bulldog
pride,” said Trewartha. “Together, we can create a thriving school environment where every
student feels seen, supported, and challenged.”
Trewartha holds a Master’s and Specialist Degree in Educational Administration from Northern

High School packet pick up event, giving students, families, and community members the
