In Copper Country Fast Pitch Softball League play last night…
- Superior Service defeated Finnish Coat 12-7. Isabelle Cleary was the winning pitcher. For Superior Service, Milly Loukus had four singles, Raili Therrian had three singles, Josie Heinonen had two singles and a double, and Molly Bugni had a double and three singles. For Finnish Coat, Clea Ollanketo, Lena Myhren, Ann Hardin and Ryleigh Johnson each had a double and a single.
- Old Bats of Michigan Made routed JB’s Sales and Service 16-1. Romi Mattson was the winning pitcher. For the Old Bats of Michigan Made, Sarah Dowd had three hits, including a home run. Alana Nolan and Tessa Cipriano also had three hits each.
- Northern Wishes downed Gold Standard 11-4. Rosalie Kangas struck out 13, and earned the win. She also had a double and a single. Kim Aho had a triple and a single, and Rachel Kinnunen had two singles. For Gold Standard, Payton Goldsworthy had a home run and a single.

- Northern Driveline plays Coldwell Banker Craig Heinonen at the Driving Park.
- Houghton Building Supply-Stanton faces Garnet Garage at the Houghton field.
MLB
The Major League All-Star Game will be played tonight.
The Tigers have six players on the American League team. Tarik Skubal will be the starting pitcher. Riley Greene and Javier Báez will open the game in the outfield, with Gleyber Torres at second base. Casey Mize is on the pitching staff, and Zack McKinstry is a reserve infielder.
The Brewers have three All-Stars. Freddy Peralta was named to the team, but won’t take part because he pitched Sunday. Trevor Megee and rookie Jacob Misiorowski are members of the pitching staff. Paul Skenes of the Pirates will be the starting pitcher for the National League.
The Tigers will return to the field Friday evening, when they visit the Rangers.
The Brewers’ season will resume Friday against the Dodgers in Los Angeles.
Last night, Mariners slugger Cal Raleigh became the first catcher ever to win the Home Run Derby. Raleigh already has 38 homers this season.
