Fast Pitch Softball
In Copper Country Fast Pitch Softball League play last evening…
- Old Bats of Michigan Made scored six runs on eight hits in the bottom of the sixth inning to earn a 6-3 comeback win over Superior Service. Romi Mattson struck out nine, and was the winning pitcher. Alana Nolan had three hits for Old Bats, and Milly Loukus homered for Superior Service.
- Payton Goldsworthy’s third home run of the night gave Gold Standard a 7-6 walk-off victory over Finnish Coat. Goldsworthy also earned the win in the circle, and struck out nine. Ashlyn Steves had a single and a double for Gold Standard. Brynn Arko and Ann Hardin each had two hits for Finnish Coat.
- Northern Wishes outscored JB’s Sales and Service 5-3. Rosalie Kangas struck out 13 to earn the win. Sylvia Aho had two hits for Northern Wishes, Larissa Peterson had a double, and Morgan Erkkila hit a home run. Lexi Burns doubled for JB’s.

MLB
The Tigers had yesterday off, and begin a home set against the Athletics tonight. Tarik Skubal will pitch against Luis Severino. Coverage will begin at 6:15 on 99.3 The Lift.
The Brewers fell to the Pirates 5-4 last evening. Starter Chad Patrick struggled, allowing four runs on nine hits over five innings, but he left with the score tied. Pittsburgh plated the game-winner off Nick Mears in the sixth. Christian Yelich homered for Milwaukee.
The Brewers host the Pirates again tonight. Freddy Peralta will start against Andrew Heaney.
Horseshoe League
- Dreamland stopped Calumet One 6-3.
- Calumet Electronics defeated Luigi’s Bar 6-3.
- Fine Line Tire downed Eva’s Hideaway 8-1.
- Bucko’s Party Store turned back L and L 8-1.
- Houghton Building Supply dispatched Loading Zone 7-2.
- Mohawk Superette shut down Ahmeek Fire Department 8-1.
