MLB
Riley Greene’s two home runs weren’t nearly enough, as the Tigers fell to the Rays 14-8 last night. Jack Flaherty barely made it into the third inning, was charged with eight runs, and took the loss.
The Tigers take on the Rays in Florida again today. Sawyer Gipson-Long will pitch against Ryan Pepiot. Coverage will begin at 11:45 on 99.3 The Lift.
Detroit starter Keider Montero has been returned to the Mud Hens.
The Brewers routed the Twins 17-6 last evening. Rookie starter Jacob Misiorowski pitched no-hit ball for six shutout innings, then allowed a run on two hits before leaving in the seventh. Add the five hitless innings he tossed in his first start, and Misiorowski opened his career with 11 no-hit innings. He’s the first Major League pitcher to do that in the modern era. Christian Yelich had four hits, and became the first major leaguer ever to drive in eight runs in a game without the benefit of a homer. Sal Frelick and Joey Ortiz each had three hits, and scored three times.
The Brewers continue that series in Minnesota today. Jose Quintana will start against Simeon Woods Richardson.
