Zach McKinstry stretched a double into a triple, then scored on a wild pitch, as the Tigers shaded the Royals 1-0 yesterday. Keider Montero pitched into the fifth, gave up seven hits, but kept the Royals off the board. Four relievers allowed just two hits over the remainder of the contest.
Detroit visits the White Sox tonight. Jack Flaherty will start against Jonathan Cannon. Coverage will begin at 7:15 on 99.3 The Lift.
The Brewers earned their seventh straight win, coming from behind to down the Phillies 5-2. Jake Bauers’ two-run double in the top of the seventh broke a 2-2 tie. Jose Quintana returned from the injured list to give up two runs on four hits over five innings.
Christian Yelich left yesterday’s game in the first inning, after he was hit on the hand by a pitch. X-rays showed nothing more than a bruise, and he’s considered day-to-day.
The Brewers visit the Reds tonight. Aaron Civale will pitch against Brady Singer.
To make room for Quintana on the roster, Tyler Alexander was designated for assignment.
