Dunkin’ and the City of Houghton Police Department will team up for a special event on Friday. Bright and early in the morning, Houghton police will join special Olympians and Dunkin staff for Cops on the Roof. The fundraising event is a part of Dunkin’s national campaign supporting the Special Olympics and athletes of all abilities. Dunkin Regional Manager Kevin Kane says it’s a fantastic opportunity to engage with the community after recently setting up shop on US-41.
And out of our 70 stores, we’ll raise over $100,000 in less than six hours. But it’s something we hold very near and dear to us, the Special Olympians. This allows them to compete, live out their dreams, and enjoy the things that most people wouldn’t think they’d be able to. So we encourage it, and we support it with all of our hearts. We partner up with local law enforcement and first responders across our whole area to support this cause. Kevin Kane, Regional Manager, Dunkin’
Starting at 6 am, and until noon, patrons can stop by Dunkin of Houghton for their morning cup of joe, donate to support Special Olympics, and receive a free donut. Or even join officers and find out if a cop’s favorite treat is a donut during a donut-eating competition. Special Olympics of Michigan includes more than 20,000 athletes competing in traditional sports such as track and field events or participating in bowling, horseshoes, and snowshoe competitions.
