Visit Keweenaw concludes the annual snowfall guessing competition.
No stranger to a few inches of snow in a single day, Visit Keweenaw in 2024 introduced a new contest to help the Upper Peninsula’s residents make fun of nearly six months of winter. Just as April arrived on the Keweenaw Peninsula one of the last winter storms of the year delivered a final dusting of snow. Bringing this 2024-25 winter snowfall total to 306, and a half inches of snow.
Visit Keweenaw recently announced this year’s contest has resulted in a tie, with David Myron and Randall Matson each guessing the correct total.
Executive Director Brad Barnett says the Copper Country is known for some of the most epic snow in the Midwest and this winter certainly delivered on the region’s reputation. Adding that even still, he’s looking forward to another full winter season next year.
With the 2024 winter coming to a close, this winter looks to set a record. Ranking in the top five snowiest recorded winters in the Keweenaw Peninsula since 1890.
Weather forecasts do include a winter storm warning for tomorrow, with a chance of two more inches of snow added to the season.
